Marmaduke the Cat
Swishing his tail angrily
Marmaduke settles into the warmth
Of the smoky fireside
Sulking and brooding
Pondering revenge
How dare I
Stupid human
Withhold his proper share
Of chicken curried niblets
And such delightful fare
As any self respecting cat ..
Will tell you
In his view
That herbal cornflakes
And such like
Quite simply will not do
I must be made to pay
Oh yes
Triumph will be his
He'll scratch the top off my orange fizz
And massacre the orchids
For now all unsuspectingly
In flickering firelight
I loll
Quite unaware of any plot
That marmaduke has got
And the smoky shadow firelight
Shines into the night
And the starry sky is dreaming
And the luminous moon is bright
But in the fading of the light
Go fur clad paws with much delight
Deep in the mystery of the night
A shape that stays well out of sight
The one who knows just where its at
Is Marmaduke the Cat ....
